Your safety matters, and we’re here to make sure your journey through the airport is both secure and stress-free.
With friendly staff, modern screening systems, Broome Airport security is all about giving you peace of mind from the moment you arrive.

Our Commitment to You
At Broome Airport, safety isn’t just a box we tick; it’s part of everything we do.
Our security team works to national aviation standards, using modern screening technology to create a safe space for all passengers.
Whether you’re flying for work or heading off on holiday, you can count on Broome Airport security to help you travel with confidence.
Security Screening Procedures
All passengers must complete a security screening before entering the departure lounge. It’s part of keeping our airport safe for everyone. Here’s what to expect:
X-Ray Checks
X-ray checks for your carry-on luggage
Scanning
Body Scanning Equipment
Metal Detectors
A walk-through metal detector or hand-held metal detector checks, if needed
ETD screenings
Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) screening
If you’re unsure about anything, just ask our staff, they’re happy to guide you through. Please note: anyone who chooses not to take part in the screening process won’t be able to enter the departure area or board their flight.
Prohibited Items
To keep everyone safe, airport regulations prohibit certain items in your hand luggage. These include:
Knives, scissors, and anything with a sharp edge
Pointed items like knitting needles or corkscrews
Flammable liquids and gases
Other hazardous materials
Some of these items may be allowed in checked baggage, depending on airline rules. Visit the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) website for the full list of permitted items.
Unattended Baggage
Please keep an eye on your belongings at all times.
Security staff may remove or destroy unattended bags, which can trigger a security alert.
If you spot anything unusual, let an airline staff member know straight away or contact Airport Security.
Behaviour Expectations
We want everyone to feel safe and welcome at Broome Airport.
Airlines may refuse boarding to passengers who appear intoxicated, act aggressively, or make inappropriate comments, even joking, about weapons or explosives.
Our security staff are here to help and keep things running smoothly; please follow their directions so we can all enjoy a safe journey.
Our safety framework includes 24/7 security patrols, CCTV monitoring, and secure access across all areas.
Broome Airport security teams work closely with national and local authorities to uphold best-practice safety standards while keeping the passenger experience front of mind.
